Duplex multiplexers allow simultaneous viewing of cameras in full screen or multiple-picture screen formats while recording or playing tapes. Simplex multiplexers allow viewing of cameras in full screen while recording and multiple-picture screen formats only upon playback. A duplex multiplexer will also allow you to record "live" cameras on one VCR while simultaneously processing and replaying video from a second VCR.
